A few people have asked me about a post on Facebook from “Nelson Recruiting LLC,” wondering if it is legit – and it does indeed appear to be.
The post states:
Cascade County residents ages 20 and older are needed for a 1-day paid opinion study being held on Wednesday, June 19 in Great Falls. The study runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments are provided. Receive $150 at the end of the day for participating in the entire 1-day event. The research will involve listening to a presentation, filling out questionnaires (reading & writing) and discussing your opinions in a group setting. Topic is community & social issues.
In order to be considered for participation, you have to answer a few questions that can be found here.
In addition to basic contact information, you have to let them know if you, immediate family members, or close friends “ever worked in any of the following industries?” and then lists the following: Airline Industry; Automotive Industry; Railroad Industry; None of the above.
I checked out their Facebook page and their website, and the company sure seems legitimate to me – in addition to community “opinion studies,” Nelson Recruiting also conducts mock trials, taste tests, usability testing, and focus groups, and has been in business for more than 30 years. If you scroll through their Facebook page, you can see that they organize and conduct these things in communities across the country.
I participated in something similar back in the 90s, and our group watched three TV sitcom pilots, and then gave our opinions about each one.
So if you’re wondering if it is a scam – nope, it looks like the real deal – if you’re up for earning $150 for one day of work, give it a shot. And if you’re selected, let me know what this opinion study is about!
