The geese (and others) have been released! It happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday, and kind of signals an unofficial start to Spring-like weather, and today didn’t disappoint – plenty of sun and temps hovering close to 70 degrees!
Park & Recreation staff take care of the waterfowl during the winter months at their indoor location (“Honker Hilton”) at the North end of Gibson Park, where they enjoy an indoor pond and are fed daily. In October, these city-owned birds are rounded up and taken back to their winter quarters.
I wasn’t able to be there today for this annual fun event, but the good folks at Visit Great Falls were there and shared this video:
