We visited The Block in downtown Great Falls today for the first time, and came away impressed!
It’s located at #4 5th Street South (adjacent to Enbar), and it’s pretty nice inside, although the music (“I’ve Got A New Girl Now” – blast from the past!) was a bit loud.
Menu is pretty simple – sandwiches, tomato soup, chili, mac-n-cheese, potato-chip nachos, several types of beer to choose from. They use bread from Blue Truck Bread in Power – delicious! You can choose sourdough, rye, or gluten-free.
We tried two sandwiches today: a Philly cheesesteak with Swiss on sourdough, and a “Big Pig” on sourdough. Both were large, hot, and delicious – and really hit home as we near the end (hopefully!) of our 32-day deep-freeze!
The home-made potato chips were crispy – available either plain or spicy. My wife had a beer called Vanilla Porter, and she said it was one of the best. Service was excellent, thanks to John. There are also four large TVs on the walls with various sports programming.
They will host a formal grand opening on Tuesday, March 19th at 11 a.m.
Verdict: thumbs up! Will definitely be back.
