Tacos On Your…Roof?

My friend Cathy sent me this a few weeks ago, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s an obscure reference, some type of derogatory dig, or just…random.

I asked her if there is some sort of roofing term with a “taco” connotation that I don’t know about, and she didn’t know of any, and asked a roofing friend of hers, and he didn’t know of any, either.

Is a “taco” a reference to the shape that hail dents leave on a roof?

Tacos On Your Roof?

  1. I’m wondering whether this isn’t a reference to hiring Mexican roofers to fix your roof. They presumable are not “experts in wind and hail”. That’s my take on it.

  2. By the way, calling Mexicans “tacos” is pretty blatant racism for a business that depends on public good-will to make its living.

  3. I have questioned several friends in construction, and none of them are aware of any term used for roofing called a ” TACO”. Regardless of what is intended here, be it innocent or blatant racism, There is NO possible way for the average person to know IF this is actually a construction or roofing term. Therefore, we, the general public will automatically assume that it is racist. I Have to agree with John. This is poor advertizing and is sure to effect the business income in the long run.
