Baja Fresh/Canyons Burgers

Finally took the new Baja Fresh/Canyons Burgers for a spin on Friday night. It’s the restaurant that opened up last month in the old Elmer’s location. On our menu: double-cheeseburger, fries, and a garlic lime marinated shrimp burrito. Initial report: burger was fair – not great, just fair. Fries were excellent. Burrito was good.

But note that this order was take-out, so I’m giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming that the burger will be tastier if it’s actually eaten at the restaurant. The service was excellent – very friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, plenty of space. And the manager even discounted the order, since I was the last customer of the night on the “casual” side – a very nice touch.

Also ran into Gregg and some of his family there – heard later on that he was less than impressed with the food. My vote: while the food wasn’t great, it’s definitely worth a second chance.

Baja Fresh and Canyon Burgers

  1. I had lunch there today with my wife. We both had burgers, hers a cheeseburger with fries, mine a mushroom and swiss burger with onion rings.

The good: Burgers were good-Not the greatest I’ve had, but they were good. The fries were pretty good. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Some of the mexican entrees that passed by our table looked really good. The chips and salsa options were passable, but the chips weren’t as good as Chili’s chips.

The bad: The menu board was very hard to read – too busy and the writing was too small to read comfortably. The onion rings were horrible-hardly any onion, way too much batter and very overcooked. I couldn’t even eat them. Customer service at the front counter still needs some work, which is nothing that experience won’t solve.

We will go back and try to mexican stuff next time. I would order another burger as well.

  2. Just wanted to mention that I found your flooring to be sticky when wearing tennis shoes. I had a bad fall going to the ladies bathroom. There was nothing that had been spilled on the floor.
I hope nobody else will fall.
    Thank you.
