So we are now three days into this thing called “Spring” and it’s been snowing (lightly, but still snowing) all day. Not complaining, mind you — love the snow!
But 406 Dove on Twitter sums it up nicely: #Montana’s #mothernature is like the #clingy girlfriend you just can’t shake off!!
You all know that I love the snow and the cold — I’ll take a Montana winter over any tropical beach — but wow, THIS winter just keeps on coming. Check out the latest forecast:
Now it’s getting serious: our coldest weather in just over three years, apparently. Looks like we got about 5 or 6 inches of snow today – and I think that makes it 4 out of the last 6 Mondays that we’ve had snow.
Going to make the Christmas Stroll on Friday night pretty challenging…and I feel sorry for the poor souls that are taking part in the annual Polar Bear Plunge.
As promised – the first serious blast of winter arrived overnight – began snowing at around 10ish on Sunday night and as of noon on Monday, it’s still coming down.
The drive to work this morning was scariest driving I’ve had in my 11 years in Montana so far…took me nearly 30 minutes to get the 2.3 miles from home to work…sliding through an intersection or two, not being able to get up a couple of hills and then having to attempt “controlled slides” back down to turn around, etc.
Here’s a shot of our picnic table from about 9 a.m.
UPDATE: And here’s the picnic table at about 2:30 p.m.
Finally! Video of the (in)famous August 1992 snow storm that hit Great Falls – my buddy Brian at work dug up some old cassette-type video thingies at work and converted the video so that it could be posted online!
Here it is – August 22-23, 1992!
Waking up to nearly six inches of wet, fluffy snow in mid-April. And it’s still coming down!
No biggie, happens every April.
