Great Falls’ world-famous Sip-n-Dip is looking for a few good…mermaids: LOCAL MOTEL/LOUNGE SEEKS A PART TIME MERMAID. WAGE IS $10.00 PER HOUR PLUS TIPS. MUST BE A GREAT SWIMMER AND HAVE SWIMMING EXPERIENCE, AS WILL BE SWIMMING IN POOL FOR THE ENTIRE SHIFT. I got an e-mail from a nice guy who lives in Canada; he loves Great Falls and will be visiting in late July with his fiancee, and wants her to love our community as much as he does! This is awesome: Jack Velvet, a hipster from Vancouver, drove all the way to Great Falls just to experience our world-famous Sip-n-Dip, and his blog entry about the trip includes a nifty 9-minute video that serves as sort of a “Sip-n-Dip 101″ that includes the legendary Piano Pat, some mermaids, and the ritual consumption of a fishbowl. And Jack’s better half, Miss Pinky, also documented their trip to Great Falls and has a bunch of pictures to share. Overall, they did a great job of capturing some of the retro elements of our community that make it so cool....

Sip And Dip

Finally! I made it to the world-famous Sip-n-Dip lounge last Saturday evening! Krista and I enjoyed a good time at one of Great Falls’ most famous places as we helped Kelly and her husband Jason celebrate Kelly’s birthday. I sipped on cola and water while they all dove into a “fishbowl,” and we munched on some chips and salsa and cheese-sticks from Clark & Lewie’s eatery (downstairs). Somebody has some fond memories (and pictures!) of their visit to the Sip-n-Dip! The Sip-n-Dip Lounge is located in the O’Haire Motor Inn in downtown Great Falls, and back in 2003 it was ranked by GQ magazine as the “#1 Bar In the World Worth Flying To.” The primary attraction, other than the kitschy ultra-tiki-theme, is the mermaid swimming in the tank; in fact, when the most famous mermaid of modern times, Darryl Hannah, visited Great Falls, she donned a mermaid suit and jumped in, too.
