Dem Rallies in Great Falls

Friday, May 30, 2008

I don’t know how many supporters the Obama team expected to attend this evening’s rally at the Four Seasons Arena, but I bet they were hoping for more than 2,400. Frankly, I expected to read that more people showed up, too. And on the other side of the Dem divide, former President Bill Clinton will be in Great Falls on Sunday, appearing at 3:45 at the Paris Gibson Education Center. If anyone attended the Obama rally, or plans to...

The conclusion of the study: The public comments, Neighborhood Council feedback, investigation into costs and the public opinion survey, all demonstrate there is little support for the conversion. Based on the above findings, staff recommends that all current efforts to convert the subject one-way streets...

Shout-Out from Conan O’Brien

A loyal reader named Tyson (who hails from Great Falls) alerted me that Conan O’Brien referenced our fair community on his TV show last night. Unfortunately, he was off by about 320 miles. Conan joked about the lone high-school graduate in Opheim, Montana (at about the 5:30 mark in the video). The Opheim story has received lots of press — even my mother in Arkansas e-mailed me about it. But since the Associated Press dateline reads “Great Falls,” I...

Political Support

Thursday, May 15, 2008

- If you’re a political junkie, you can see which of your neighbors have donated to which candidates. For example: according to the HuffPo, Cheryl Crawley, our new GFPS superintendent, donated $350 to Barack Obama. On the other side, Amy Astin, who used to work for Rep Denny Rehberg, donated $500 to Mitt Romney’s campaign, according to NewsMeat. - The keyword in 2008 seems to be “superdelegates.” So how many does Montana have, exactly, and who are they? Check...
