Snap Fitness

Noticed the new Snap Fitness center in the Target shopping complex yesterday – looks pretty spiffy. The idea is cool: if you’re a member, you can go workout anytime, day or night, 24 hours a day. A staff member is only available during certain hours to provide management, oversight, and sign up new members. Access is controlled by a key-card, I believe. No contract, no sign-up fees – just a monthly membership fee. The equipment all looks shiny and new. The phone number is 727-2077, if you want more information. Nifty idea, and timely, too, since so many people...

Service

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Hutch has an entry in which he criticizes the service in local restaurants, citing three examples: So far in my time here in Great Falls, I’ve been disappointed in the quality of service provided in local restaurants. I’m gonna mention three restaurants here. And when I say my piece, it’s still up to you to decide. Elmer’s, Jaker’s, and Sedgie’s… some of the worst service I’ve ever had. I’ve been here for five years, and let me tell you: I have never received such friendly service anywhere as I have received in Great Falls. Period. In fact, several times...

Help Wanted (Oct 11)

Received this flyer at McDonald’s the other day; the manager told me that they need to hire 60 people before the 10th Avenue location re-opens. Not a bad deal: $7.50/hour to start, health benefits (and quality time with Mayor McCheese)! Read The Whole Thing >>> And if you’d rather work in a place with a more “Montana” feel, the good folks over at the Montana Sub Shop are looking for some help, too. Hours are 10:30 – 5:30, Monday through Friday. If you’re interested, stop by (701 9th Street South – and grab a tasty sub while you’re there!)...

Parking Meters

Got an e-mail from a downtown merchant with some news about a new type of parking meter: Read The Whole Thing >>> In an ongoing effort to solve the neverending problem of parking meters downtown, The City of Great Falls Parking Commission and The BID are announcing the “unveiling” of the new free time parking meters. * The meters will be here around the first of October and hopefully installed around the 5th. * These are trial meters and will be installed on the 400 block of Central...

Nothing New

Monday, September 24, 2007

Coming up on one year since my kerfuffle with the Great Falls Development Authority, and it saddens me to report that nothing has changed on the GFDA website. The link to “Quest” still appears on the GFDA site, and none of the things that I mentioned back in January have changed: Read The Whole Thing >>> “It is still somewhat depressing, though, to see that not much else has changed at the site, such as the monthly newsletter section, with the most entry of April 2006 and all “recent” success stories dated 2005; or the Taxes and Incentives page,...
