The Hangout

Well, this certainly looks promising: The Hangout. I’m not sure when it opened, but it’s fairly recent, I believe. Plenty of activities for everyone: billiards, air-hockey, internet access, foosball, snacks & beverages, darts, videogames, and more. No drugs, no alcohol, no smoking, no gambling. The Hangout is located at 5501 9th Avenue South, and you can call them at 453.1099 for more information. Definitely plan to check this out! UPDATE: sadly, The Hangout didn’t last…it was closed in the Fall of 2006. Good idea, but I think that the location was a big factor in its’ demise. Too far...

It’s finally official: Great Falls is getting it’s very first free-standing Starbucks! Great Falls will join Billings, Helena, and Missoula as a Starbucks town. I’m sure you’ve all noticed the building going up in the parking lot of Holiday Village Mall. I’ve heard that the intersection there, 10th Avenue South & 9th Street, is the busiest one in town, so I suppose it makes sense to plant Starbucks right there. I have no doubt that the store will be successful. I wonder if they’ll have any grand-opening celebrations and prizes and such?

The story so far: the newly-formed All American Professional Basketball League (AAPBL) is gearing up for season #1 and have selected cities & team names, in addition to a motto for the AAPBL: “A Bounce Away From The NBA!” The teams in the league are: Great Falls Cowboys; Billings Rims; Butte Bandits; Wyoming Golden Eagles; Pueblo Aztecs; Lincoln Generals; Cedar Rapids Ball Hogs; Wichita Bombers; Topeka Tornado ; Mankato Mallards The league is divided into two divisions: Mountain and Plains. I’m not entirely sure what criteria were used to make this judment, but apparently Joan Cook is — and I quote — “Montana’s best attorney.” Well, since I haven’t seen any other Montana lawyers make such a claim, I’ll take this statement at face value. And besides, with Angus as the law firm’s mascot, I sure wouldn’t want to counter her claim.
