Air Show & Animals

Canadian Snowbirds The highlight for many people this weekend will be the Malmstrom Open House and Air Show, featuring the return of the Canadian Snowbirds aerial demonstration team. Welcome back, Snowbirds. You’ve been in our collective thoughts since last year, and it is great to have you back in Great Falls to amaze and thrill our community.

On a more terrestrial note, don’t forget that the annual “Spay-ghetti” dinner will be held tomorrow night to raise money for The Animal Foundation’s spay & neuter programs. For more details, call 454-1720. And in related news, don’t forget that the newly-formed “Diamonds In The Ruff” will be conducting an “adopt-a-thon” on Saturday at PetCo.

MORE:
got an e-mail from Alan, a local racing fan:

“…there will be Sprint cars at the local track tonight and tomorrow night. Sprints are the fastest cars on the track, they hit a top speed of over 100mph on the straight stretch. There will be cars from Canada and the USA; the race is called the ‘Can Am Challenge’.”

More details at the Electric City Speedway site. Thanks Alan!

Diamonds In The Ruff

This is cool: a new animal-welfare group in Great Falls with a nifty name - Diamonds In The Ruff! See some adorable dogs and cats that need good, loving homes, and learn more about them at the “Adopt-A-Thon” on Saturday at PetCo. And they’ve got some funnies on their site, too.

I’ve said before that I don’t understand all of the issues involving the local animal shelter and the City; this seems like an attempt to simply side-step those controversies and focus solely on the animals. Good on ‘em.

It’s What Was For Dinner?

Uh oh…looks like the Burger King Double-Whopper with Cheese that I enjoyed last night might have been…the Unsinkable Molly B. Yep - Molly B, the spirited bovine who led Great Falls on a merry chase more than two years ago is missing.

Dad Chimes In

Time once again for “Dad Chimes In,” a semi-regular feature in which my father, a retired Air Force physician in Texas, provides his commentary on a recent GreaterFalls entry. Today’s subject is coming up with a name for the adorable little bunny from Friday. Here’s what Dad had to say:

Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center

Wow! Quite a party the L&C folks threw today! As promised, the baby bison (two of ‘em!) made an appearance - pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I arrived too late to see the other critters, but it was great to see the displays and attractions: demonstrations of guns, tipis and pelts, games for kids, live music, food. I’m no expert, but it sure looked like a good turnout, too - lots and lots of people, and it sure seemed like everybody was having a good time. And for the first time, I explored the lower part of the Center, and was quite impressed - can’t wait to go back for a more thorough visit.

Here’s a few pix from today - as always, just click to see ‘em all and in full-size. If you visited the Center today, what was your favorite part?

L&C IC Anniversary

Today is the day! The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center will celebrate ten years with a party for everyone: free admission, live animals, food & drink, etc. Check it out:

Questions Need Answers

Several questions via the Contact form this week, and I’m turning to you smart readers for some answers.

Bunny

We need something a bit light-hearted to end the week. How about a picture of a tiny baby bunny that lives near my workplace?

baby bunny

Now give him (her?) a name.

(pssst…wanna buy a puppy?)

You know what’s really great on a beautiful Spring day? Playing fetch with a playful puppy! If you’ve been thinking about getting a puppy, for yourself or the kids, check this out:

Here are some pics of my new puppies, well not exactly new, they are 5 weeks old as of this past Monday. We are selling them of course and they are all papered and have their shots. The email address is ddsjcormier @ msn.com, neighborhood is Fox Farm. They are AKC Labs, all colors, male and female. We are asking $450 OBO.

OK, now you might be thinking to yourself, “Harumph! I don’t need a puppy! I’m too macho and tough to fall for the old ‘cute puppy’ routine!” Well, OK…but you’ve been warned:

Thar Be Baby Gooses Here!

Took a drive this evening along the river - past the Lewis & Clark Center - and spotted the first baby Canada goslings of the season! Just look at those tiny little balls of fluff!

Baby Gooses! Baby Gooses!

Plenty more Goose fun here!
