“Tiny Octopus Salad”

We stopped by the commissary at Malmstrom today – my wife loves loves loves sushi, and they sell fresh stuff, so it’s always a treat.

But today we saw something that…um…didn’t look appetizing in any way, to put it mildly.

I suppose you could disguise it as a riddle: What has 64 legs, 8 heads, and goes in your tummy?

Yep — Tiny Octopus Salad.

Email from Scott to let folks know about the Electric City Roller Grrrlz event:

Hi Dave,
I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event for August 17th. Every year the Electric City Roller Grrrlz skate to pave Joe’s Trail. Joe’s Trail is a nonprofit group to get a paved trail between Ulm and Cascade. The span is around 12-15 miles. Joe Luckman was riding his bike along the frontage road and was killed in an accident. This trail is a tribute to him. The Grrrlz are selling shirts with the proceeds going to the trail. If someone is interested they can contact ECRG on facebook. Thanks for your time Dave.

Thanks Scott!

Trouble With Sears

Got an email from Carli recently:

Hi David,

I read your blog frequently, and notice that occasionally, you mention ordeals with businesses not treating the customer correctly. I have a story for your blog if interested. I’d like you to take a look at this thread: https://www.sears.com/community/questions/where-can-i-make-complaints-regarding-delivery-issues/

I am on day 3 of waiting for someone to set up a treadmill just left in the box in my living room, just like I paid for.

Then, if interested, take a look at the Sears Facebook. It is so alarming.

I had always had such good luck at Sears, but now, they have lost me as a customer for life. I didn’t think to research delivery service because I didn’t know any better. Never, ever, ever again!

Just thought you might be interested.

I’ve never had a problem with Sears myself…but then again, I honestly can’t remember the last time I bought anything from Sears.

Any of you had trouble with the Great Falls’ Sears store?

Sip-n-Dip Review

I absolutely love that the Sip-n-Dip attracts so many visitors to our wonderful community, and every now and then, a review from a tourist will pop up on my radar.

Sip-N-Dip in Great Falls

Gwendolyn visited in 2012 and wrote up a nice review of the Sip-n-Dip and a few other places in town, and she topped it off with some nice pictures.

Not surprisingly, she was less than impressed with the exterior of the admittedly bland looking O’Haire Motor Inn: Any expectations I have are challenged as we get out of the taxi at the O’Haire Motor Inn on a rooftop parking lot in front of a non-descript door, surrounded by a handful of smokers.

But things worked out just fine, as they usually do at the Sip-n-Dip!

Which reminds me – someone named David Lemon posted this nifty video to YouTube:

Help Riley

Raelene Norton posted this on Facebook (forwarded to her by the person who found Riley):

Dear Great Falls Community,
On the night of July 14th 2014, a female Pekingese mix was hit by a car between the block of 4800 and 5000 of 2nd Ave North and was left on the side of the road. Animal Control was notified by some good Samaritans and the dog was brought to the shelter after being seen by the shelter’s contracted vet. Since then owners have come forward. However, as we all are probably all too familiar, one can never be totally prepared when emergencies occur. The family desperately wants their furry family member to get the care she needs, but is unable to afford all the medical care that she will need. So we are asking you as a community to help this family and their beloved pet out. Anyone interested or willing to donate please contact Best Friends Animal Hospital at (406)453-2200 in care of “Riley”. Thank you!

Crop Face?

We had a great weekend — day-trip to a really, really awesome place in Chouteau County that I will post about later — but when we got home, as always, I did more online digging to check out some of the stuff we had seen.

Check out this Google map screenshot of an area that we drove through…

Now let’s zoom in a bit…do you see it yet?

More zoom — now you can see it!

So…did somebody do that intentionally? Or is just a Rorschach-type thing that makes me think it looks like a face?
