Hello Dali

My daughter posted this on Facebook, and once I clicked the LIKE button, she gave me Salvador Dali – which is way cool, because Dali was one seriously fascinating artist, based on my very limited exposure to his work.

I don’t always like games or this kinds of things on facebook but this one struck me. This is a game to help keep art alive. Like this status and I will give you an artist to google, and post the piece which suits you best, with this message.

And since my wife is an art teacher and adores Art and Artists, this seemed even more appropriate for me to “play along.” And wow, I was not disappointed. Dali was even more fascinating, bizarre, and quirky than I realized.

The piece of Dali art that I chose to post is not necessarily the one that “suits me best” (although I was infatuated with Shirley Temple when I was young), but it certainly is…representative of Dali’s style.

It is called Shirley Temple, The Youngest, Most Sacred Monster of the Cinema in Her Time.

Even Buzzfeed got it on the act a while ago – comparing Shirley to (can’t make it up) Honey Boo Boo.
