Greg has some insight into the recent controversy over the “mobile food cart” issue and provides an interesting summary:
Recapping, we have a sex shop that came to the City and wanted to open in a zone where sex shops are not legal. The sex shop was honest on its application and the Director of Planning and Community Development articulated a strained and, frankly, false interpretation of its application to allow the sex shop to open in the very center of our downtown community. A local family that has operated here for 50 years and developed a product that help put our town on the map, well, we just can’t find any way to help them, can we?
What does it say about Mr. Haynes, about the Planning Department, about the City of Great Falls when we work hard for sex shops but punish other entrepreneurs? I’ll leave that to you to decide.
