Clark & Lewie’s

We enjoyed eating at Clark & Lewie’s a few years ago, but after a couple of “meh” dinners and one really bad dinner (food served still frozen inside), we avoided going there.

But we figured it was only fair to give it another shot, so two weeks ago, ahead of some merriment upstairs at the (legendary!) Sip-n-Dip, we sat down to eat. She ordered a shrimp dinner, and I ordered (duh) a ribeye.

Sadly, the food was actually worse this time around than before. The shrimp dinner didn’t even rise to “meh” level, the potatoes were devoid of flavor, and my ribeye was stringy, overly seasoned, and about 1/3 fat. It was so bad, in fact, that I actually didn’t finish it. For the first time in my life, I didn’t finish a steak.

As we paid, we mentioned this to the server, who didn’t seem overly concerned. Sigh.

On the other hand, we’ve heard that they serve up a great breakfast – maybe we should give that a shot.

If any of you have some positive reviews of Clark & Lewie’s to relate, please share. I would love to hear of people enjoying the food there.

On a more positive note, the Sip-n-Dip is still legendary, awesome, and every other cool adjective you can think of!

  1. Shocked to hear this! I haven’t ever had a bad meal there. You should mention your problems with the owner. It is a locally owned restaurant.

  2. The wife and I somewhat regularly go there on a friday night and share their 16oz prime rib platter. And to echo Aaron’s feelings, we’ve never had a bad meal. We know the owner and a few of the staff. It’s one of our ‘Date Night’ places.
