Marmots!

One of my favorite sights: MARMOTS ALONG THE MISSOURI! Usually I only see one, and that’s usually a bit more south, closer to the horseshoe area. Not sure if these two are hoary or yellow-bellied. I tried approaching, but they beat a hasty retreat.

UPDATE: thanks to Elizabeth for sharing this up-close-and-personal view of one of Great Falls’ marmots!

There is usually one by the horseshoes & one closer to where this was taken. One of the ones by this area likes french fries….

My kids and I counted seven one morning last week! :-) We’ve been calling them rockchucks, but I don’t know what their official species is. Newly hatched goslings are showing up too. I love our Great Falls riverfront!

wrenegade, 7 might be a local record! For some reason, the name “rockchucks” sounds familiar to me, too. And baby geese – my favorite!
