I'm not fond of the refinery either. It's one of the main reasons I never understood spending all the money to restore the ninth street bridge, but I don't see the point of damaging the nature we have intact. Maybe move them both out by the landfill? I know it will never happen, but that would have been a better choice.

I'd rather move the refinery out by the new Highwood stack.

I wasn't around when that stack was still standing, but it's not in the same place, I know that. And I think it does ruin a great opportunity, as the River's Edge Trail continues to expand, to get that feeling of really being "out there".

It's kind of amusing to hear people from GF complaining about the visual impact of a smoke stack. Short memories.

I just gave it a skim, I'll have to read it when I have more time, but I have to say this. We travelled through Wyoming on the way to Texas, and passed by two power plants that to me look like what they are building here. What an eyesore, you could see the plume of smoke and steam for miles. It will probably ruin the view of the highwood mountains as we know it from town, and most definitely from the north shore rivers edge trail that many people enjoy. I'd rather see a windmill farm than that...
