Sunday, January 6, 2008

I’m still tweaking this, so I’m not 100% sure that it works properly yet, but go ahead and add the application and let’s see if Facebook can keep up with GreaterFalls! Greater Falls! Facebook Application And if you’re visiting via ReAnn’s page, here are some handy “Getting Things Done” resources! Amazon.com Widgets

Snap Fitness Update

Saturday, January 5, 2008

Just spoke to the folks at Snap Fitness and learned that the monthly fee is $29 for one person, or $49 for a family…and that there is currently NO enrollment fee, probably as part of the “grand opening,” but that a $49 one-time enrollment fee will soon be required. So if you want to join without paying the one-time fee, get moving! Also: apparently the opening of the NW location is still up in the air – sometime in 2008, but nothing more specific than that yet. UPDATE January 9: just found this KFBB piece (incl video) about Snap...

“Contact” Theories

Friday, January 4, 2008

I’ll admit that the “We Make Contact” guessing game is making me crazy – I want to know! The word “contact” might be a clue – something to do with communications, perhaps? Maybe Qwest is going to launch a new service or product. And the prominent letter V in the billboard – could it be related to Verizon, maybe? I doubt either of those theories – the entire campaign smacks of local interest, not part of some national campaign. Or how about this: the “UFOs” flying in the sky over Great Falls – possibly a reference to flying? Maybe...

Friday Quick Hits

Friday, January 4, 2008

- The J-Bar-T is closing; one last weekend of partying on January 11-12. Never been there, but I understand that it was a pretty lively place. Any particular memories you have (good or bad) of the J-Bar-T? UPDATE: Wow – the Trib article about the J Bar T contains some pretty rowdy memories and interesting tales! - A benefit for the family of CMR student Luke Clinger will be held on February 9 at the Northwest Center; Luke remains in the hospital following a car crash in October, and money raised will go towards his medical bills. For more...

We Make Contact: The Bovine Theory

Thursday, January 3, 2008

Like most of you, I rarely frequent the Tribune online Forums. The signal-to-noise ratio is just horrible. But, much like some people have a weakness for tabloid trash or reality TV, I occasionally go looking around in the Forums to see if there is anything interesting, and yesterday I stumbled across a really weird thread that was started by “oscar the grouch.” Here’s part of it: The prophecy has predicted that the year of 2008 is going to be the worst year mankind has seen with the horrible situation known as Cattle Mutilations. Cattle Mutilation Signs are as follows...

Montana People with Karen Wolf

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

(Great job, everyone, on the detective work – I’m confident that we can “crack the code” before the 1-15-08 date! I’ll post more updates as I receive them!) Heard a promo on the radio the other day advertising a new local show that will air Sunday nights at 10:00 on KTGF: Montana People, hosted by Karen Wolf. Sounds sort of like a Great Falls version of “Backroads of Montana” – should be interesting. There are TONS of stories about people and places and events in Great Falls – it will be cool to see them featured. Good on Karen...

We Make Contact – With What?

We Make Contact – With What?

As I expected, the smart readers of GreaterFalls.com have sussed out some answers in the “WeMakeContact.com” mystery. Harley and AJ, our resident graphics expert, noted that the “UFOs” did appear to be digitally inserted, and Fred pointed out that the domain name was registered BEFORE the supposed UFO sighting, as well as noting that Adobe Photoshop was used on the images on the site: He also pointed out that the billboard – no small expense – got posted pretty darn quick. And Chuck emailed to remind me that new movies (and video games?) are usually released on Tuesdays –...
