RIP, Dave The Morning Guy

Damn. Just found out that “Dave The Morning Guy” at Q-106 has passed away. I spoke with him a few times, when I won a contest or such…what a nice guy, and great on-air. I don’t know what happened – but he was way too young. The station has asked for fans and friends to send condolences to Dave’s family in care of the station at mail@q106rocks.com. From the Tribune obituary:

Memorials are suggested to the Broadcasters Foundation of America, 7 Lincoln Ave., Greenwich, CT 06830, or the American Red Cross, 1300 28th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405. If you can’t afford a donation, a fitting way to honor Dave would be to donate blood.

My condolences to his wife, children, and family. Dave, thanks for being part of what has made Great Falls so great.

I liked Dave. He had a stretch of bad luck over the last few years but seemed to keep his sense of humor about it. I used to yak with him every now and then during Friday happy hour, I’ll miss that.

Dave was a good friend and a great guy. He and Tammie Toren (his lovely wife) made a great team, and he will be deeply missed. He loved this community and we loved him back. What a sad loss!

A tragic loss for Tammie and a huge loss for the community. In the 2 1/2 years I’ve lived here, he’d become a fixture in my mornings. I could always count on him to make my 30-minute ride to work fun with the trivia and “6 things”. The last time we spoke on the phone, it was about business – trivial stuff. I wish I had told him then how much his presence in my morning routine meant to me. Thanks Dave – wherever you are.

Thank you so much. Dave was a wonderful man, and it’s so comforting to know we’re not the only ones missing him.
