10th Street Bridge

I’ll admit to being a bit baffled about the “purpose” of the 10th Street Bridge project; being a relative newcomer to Great Falls, I only know about the bridge from reading about it – not from crossing it or seeing it used every day. But I do know that it sure looked pretty cool a few weeks ago, when the bluish-purple lights shone underneath the bridge and provided a fascinating purple glow to the smoke from the smelter refinery (oops…thanks for the catch, Wolfpack!). And luckily for us, GreaterFalls.com reader Alan snapped a couple of awesome pictures and agreed to share them here:

I was wondering if that was a permanent addition, then I haven’t seen it since, it sure was gorgeous and I’m glad I had a chance to see it before they quit doing it! Wonderful pictures!

My wife and I just saw it the other day. I think it was on Saturday evening when we drove by and saw it lit up.

I’m not a fan of the overall bridge project, but when I saw this the other night I was practically giddy. It’s the best idea they’ve had for the thing yet.

There is smoke coming from the smelter? Are the bridge people putting the stack back to?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for posting the photos! I too wonder what the purpose of the bridge is but I remember crossing it for many years. As AJ said the lights are the best thing yet. I just wish they were lit on a regular basis.

Shoot!!! I missed the lighting! Is it still lit up? If not, are they going to do it again?
Would love to see it in real life.

wait that was temporary? Why not leave them up, its the only thing that has every made sense about that bridge since it stopped being crossable.
