Got an e-mail from Geannine Rapp about a fun event designed to raise money and awareness about breast cancer: Prettiest In Pink!
July 24, 2007– Clinic Cancer Care is gearing up for their August 1st Prettiest in Pink competition. The contest challenges Clinic employees and local businesses to dress up as pink as possible for a “Pink on Parade” procession being held at the Great Falls Clinic Specialty Center, 3000 15th Avenue South, starting at 12:00 noon.
The color pink, most frequently associated with breast cancer awareness efforts held across the nation, will be used locally to do the same during the Prettiest in Pink competition and subsequent Clinic Cancer Care Tough Enough to Wear Pink events held in conjunction with the Big Sky Pro Rodeo Roundup on August 2 at the Montana State Fair. In addition, the event will help raise funds for Women Against Breast Cancer (WABC), a local support organization dedicated to helping breast cancer survivors.
Twenty-seven contestants have pre-registered for the Clinic Cancer Care Prettiest in Pink competition including representatives from local businesses and organizations. “The Tough Enough to Wear Pink events provide Clinic Cancer Care with a fun and unique opportunity to showcase our support for breast cancer survivorship and increase awareness about early detection, prevention and treatment options available right here in Great Falls” noted Geannine Rapp Purpura, Director of Marketing for the Great Falls Clinic. “The Clinic Cancer Care Prettiest in Pink contest was added to the event calendar as a way to involve additional businesses in our efforts, raise more funds for WABC and ultimately have fun. Our employees have really embraced this opportunity to “Think Pink” and participate in all of the Tough Enough to Wear Pink events.”
Contestants will be evaluated by an impartial panel of judges. The panel consists of a cancer survivor, a caregiver, two representatives from Women Against Breast Cancer, and Megan Hardy, Miss Rodeo Montana. The contestant selected as the Prettiest in Pink winner will receive a prize package that includes 2 – Richer Pack concert tickets (includes Big & Rich, Sara Evans, Julie Roberts and Blake Shelton), admission to the August 2nd Montana State Fair and Tough Enough to Wear Pink Rodeo, dinner and libations at Clark & Lewie’s/Sip ‘n Dip, breast cancer awareness sports items from Clarks Orthopedic/Clinic Cancer Care Appearance Center, Tough Enough to Wear Pink logo items and MORE!
To perpetuate the “Think Pink” mentality following the Prettiest in Pink contest, Clinic employees and physicians will be encouraged to wear pink to work during a special Pink Jean Thursday fundraiser on Thursday, August 2. Each employee and physician who wants to wear jeans on this day will be asked to make a $5 contribution. Proceeds from the Pink Jean Thursday will be donated to Women Against Breast Cancer.
