Local Celebrities

In our community of Great Falls, who do you think qualifies as a “celebrity?” We don’t have any movie stars or national politicians here in our community, so what is our equivalent? The TV news anchors – Julie Klesh, Cindy Cieluch, Charlie Heit, and others? Or is it our community leaders, such as Brett Doney and John Goodnow and others like that? Business people, such as Alison Fried of Dragonfly, or Jim and Jody from the 5th Street Diner? How about politicians – the Mayor and the City Commissioners, or the county officials? The peace officers? Tell me what you think – what makes a local celebrity?

There may be a few hidden “celebrities” placed here by the Witness Protection Program, don’t you think?

    I agree with Dona. ;)

Given the size of our community, I’d guess that if you can say “Isn’t that…” and the person with you knows who you’re talking about, you’re looking at a local celebrity. That does mostly confine it to TV personalities and pitchmen, but that’s reasonably analogous to the national norm.

    So I’m out. Yay!

Norseman, you too are a local celeb! Even tho’ you no longer rave (or rave more quietly) you are THERE! I wouldn’t know about the witness protection program, Walter. Where did you say you were from? :) :)

How about the guy who was the main pusher for the “Rivers Edge Trail”? Don’t know his name anymore but remember he was a lawyer. Heck, it has been so long since I was there I doubt he still lives in the Greater Falls viewing area.

    Hi Dave…
I have to agree with Dona, too. We newsies are far from celebrities, in fact many of us probably fall under Walter’s description!!!! That’s the beauty of Great Falls… no one is ‘greater’ than anyone else… (except you being the greatest of the bloggers :) )
