Tuesday, January 2

December 29th, 2006 · 1 Comment

Some of you probably already heard about this: Tuesday, January 2, 2007 has been declared a national day of mourning by President Bush, in honor of former President Gerald Ford. The impact: most federal offices and agencies will NOT be open on Tuesday, including most of Malmstrom Air Force Base, and there will be no mail service.

At one time, we were celebrating the rare occurance of having four former presidents still living–Ford, Carter, Bush and Clinton.

    Now we mourn Ford’s passing.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that “to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

Let’s hope that in this time of dying, new ideas of peace born from Ford’s legacy grow into maturity in our lifetimes.
