Dragonfly Dry Goods

Listening to the radio earlier today and heard Allison, the owner of Dragonfly Dry Goods, announcing that she is looking to hire two full-time staffers. If I wasn’t already employed, I’d be pretty tempted - I love that store! But now that I think of it, I don’t recall ever seeing a guy working there. Hm. By the way, if you check out the Dragonfly website, you’ll notice that the calendar is a little out of date. As far as online business calendars go, it’s pretty good, actually, with information about specials and a pleasant tone…but it does no good at all if the last entry is for August 2006.

Birthday for Bejay

A message from one of our favorite local on-air personalities:

I am having a Birthday party tomorrow night (Friday)! Everyone is invited. 8pm at the Black Eagle Community Center. Live music from Dose, At Home In Hell, Zero Tolerance, and Driven Under. All ages welcome, $5. It’s gonna be fun. Bejay

Spot The Two Errors

How Many Errors?

*ding*

How many of you have seen the recent commercials for Pro-Lube, the “Take Ten” stores? How many of you, upon hearing a ring of any kind, immediately hear that child-like voice calling out “Take Ten!”? Annoying? Possibly, but certainly not as much as the Head-On commercials. Cute? Hmmm…not likely, but an outside chance. Effective? Uh, probably.

Mail Call

BUMP Would anybody out there like to have an @greaterfalls.com e-mail address with over 2GB of storage? Ability to send attachments of 10MB (great for sending pictures!)? With the best anti-spam blocker available? Using the awesome GMail service? No strings attached, and at no cost? Show everyone else in Great Falls how cool you are by getting your very own “greaterfalls.com” address!
If you’re interested, just let me know in the comments below, or you can shoot me an e-mail at david AT greaterfalls.com.

Cheep, Cheep!

If you’re in the market for an inexpensive computer - albeit not quite state-of-the-art - check out the City of Great Falls’ auction page over at eBay. Right now there are two computers, two monitors, and one printer up for grabs.

All Politics Is Local

Here is a link to the Montana legislative map for our community here in Great Falls (and Cascade County). Click anywhere in the map to find out who your elected officials are. The purple numbers are Senate districts, and the blue numbers are House districts. Go check it out and see how many names you recognize. Later this week, I’m going to try to link to candidate websites, and perhaps see if I can get any of the candidates to talk to me.

Goings On

Aaron alerts us to a possible outbreak of strep throat in the schools; not too surprising, if true, because the first few weeks after the schools are back in session *always* sees a huge increase in the amount of “crud” going around, at least in my experience. All those kids packed together in enclosed spaces for the first time in two or three months, eating together in cafeterias, sharing food and drinks, etc. Sally has a few more pix of urban re-design, this time at the mall. GeeGuy compares Great Falls to Billings (and Mizzou) and wonders why our locals are always so “down” on Great Falls and complaining about 10th Avenue South and the number of casinos. And the Raving Norseman gives us a review of one of the “new and improved” episodes of Star Trek (the original series).

Good stuff in the Great Falls blogosphere. Thanks, gang, for helping to make this place even better.

Howdy!

A big shout-out to Brian and Heather from Wells Fargo Financial, who “discovered” GreaterFalls.com earlier today! *waves to them* Hey, you two — if you’re reading this, leave me a comment, willya?
