Didja see that we have a Winter Storm Watch for Wednesday/Thursday? I’m fully prepared to be disappointed and see only rain, but there’s a chance that we’ll get some serious snow out of it:

The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter Storm Watch… which is in effect from Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon. Widespread rain will develop Wednesday and by Thursday morning it will change to snow. Snowfall accumulations are uncertain at this time and depend on when the rain changes to snow. Snow accumulations may range from a few inches if this system is mostly rain, but if this system is mostly snow, snow accumulations will range from 6 to 18 inches across the plains and valleys. Snow will mainly fall in the mountains with 1 to 3 feet of snow accumulations likely.

Along with the heavy wet snow, strong north winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph will cause significant blowing and drifting snow and possibly blizzard conditions.

Wow. Looks like Winter still has some fight left in her!

Share.
